New liquid helium and liquid nitrogen point monitors are now shipping! Both monitors feature extremely small size and weight. They have the flexibility of battery operation and the option of a line-powered adapter.
The Model 200 liquid helium monitor accurately and quickly determines if its small sensor is in liquid or gaseous helium. Typical battery life is 500-600 hours in operation. The battery is a standard 9V alkaline.
The sensor comes in two basic configurations. The first configuration has the sensor mounted inside a 1/4" O.D. fiberglass tubing. Standard tubing length is either 48" or 60". This configuration is good for dipping most liquid helium storage dewars.
The second configuration has the sensor integrated into a liquid helium transfer line. The quick response of the sensor and monitor insures the operator knows when the storage dewar is out of liquid helium. This prevents accidental quench of superconducting magnets due to warm gas inadvertently being introduced in the magnet dewar.
The Model 250 is a similar instrument designed to detect liquid nitrogen gas or liquid. The Model 250 features a selectable sample rate to extend battery life up to 17 months! This is ideal for most low-boiloff LN2 storage dewars.
