Duty-Cycle Optimized Current Leads are specifically designed to offer exceptional static mode (zero current) performance. Using helium off-gas from the system to cool the power leads, Standard Duty-Cycle Optimized Current Leads are a good choice for research that involves mainly persistent mode magnet operation.
As an example, Model B100 current leads rated at 100 amperes will consume only 70 mL/hour liquid helium while in static mode.
Retractable versions are available to further reduce heat load while the magnet is in persistent mode. This option is available in several current ratings. The construction of retractable versions is in two sections. The lower section is permanently mounted inside the cryostat. The upper section can be disconnected and retracted into the cryostat neck. Liquid helium consumption is significantly reduced because the thermal path to the liquid helium bath is broken. Lead retractors are available to easily retract and insert the current leads.
Standard sizes and current ratings are listed below. Special mounting flanges are available. Contact us for current ratings not listed. For the researcher who performs a mixture of swept-field and persistent mode magnet operation, please check out Monaxial Vapor-Cooled Current Leads.
