Cryomagnetics offers a full line of high quality superconducting NMR systems with vertical and horizontal room temperature access bores. The magnets have a range of frequencies from 100 MHz (2.35 Tesla) to 500 MHz (11.75 Tesla). A standard feature of Cryomagnetics’ NMR systems is the exceptionally large standard bore sizes.
Precise magnet design and fabrication techniques insure a magnet with exceptional NMR performance. Combining Cryomagnetics highly qualified engineering staff with skilled production personnel provides a NMR system without compromise. Due to the nature of NMR spectroscopy research, the magnet must have a large homogeneous high field region with extremely low field drift. A typical 400 MHz NMR system with a 4.00 inch room temperature bore will have a homogeneous field region of 0.1 ppm over a 20 mm diameter by 20 mm long volume. The magnetic field drift specification of the magnet is less than 0.01 ppm per hour.
All Cryomagnetics NMR magnets have at least 10 ppm homogeneity over the high field region without the use of independent shims. Magnets requiring 1 ppm homogeneity will utilize independent first order superconducting shim coils. This insures field homogeneity specification can be maintained even if the system is installed in an environment having iron or other magnets nearby. Higher homogeneity is achieved using second order superconducting shim coils. Available shim coils include: Z, Z2, X, Y, X2-Y2, XY, ZX, ZY, Z3, and Z4.
All NMR magnets are fully tested using state of the art NMR probes and measurement devices at the factory. Customers can be assured of receiving a NMR system that will give quench-free service and meet all specifications. For NMR systems with 1 ppm homogeneity or better, on-site shimming will be necessary. If desired, a highly trained Cryomagnetics’ technician will shim the magnet on-site to null out gradients and off-axis inhomogeneities. While on-site, the technician will instruct the users on how to operate and maintain the system.
Cryomagnetics is fully equipped to build ultra-low loss cryostats in-house. This insures that the NMR system you purchase will give years of reliable service. Because the entire system is designed and fabricated in house, quality control is exceptional.
A typical ultra-low loss cryostat for the 400 MHz NMR magnet above will have a liquid helium boil-off specification of less than 0.5 liters per day in static mode. This translates to a liquid helium refill interval of 120 days and low operating costs. All Cryomagnetics’ ultra-low loss cryostats are designed to be easily serviced and provide years of trouble-free operation. Models are available to accommodate every customer’s needs.
